Just right for the classic family road trip vacation! The first woodies were made by attaching a wagon to a cab with an engine and from that first wagon a classic style of automobile was born. Ford produced its first Woodie in 1929 and was soon joined by other auto manufactures, like Packard. Real wood panels were featured as inserts by Ford and Mercury in 1949. In the late 1950s the old models were adopted by the surfing set as they could be found cheaply and could easily carry surfboards. Now considered valuable collectables; demand has never been greater for Woodies or for our Woodie Wagon set of cast iron sculptural bookends. Bookends serve as punctuation marks in a library, showcasing your interests, and adding character to any room, shelf, or credenza. This ideal heavyweight pair serves as functional art while giving literary support to your favorite books. Hand-crafted in heavyweight foundry cast iron exclusively for Design Toscano, then hand painted and distressed just enough to replicate a true antique.
