Zeus or Poseidon of Artemision Quality Lost Wax Bronze Statue
450 BC, National Museum, Athens, Greece
Fishermen plying their nets off the Cape Artemision, Greece in 1926 drew up pieces of this 5th century bronze sculpture, prompting a dive that brought from the deep the original 7-foot bronze statue of Zeus (sometimes thought to be Poseidon), now a national Greek treasure. This scaled bronze statue captures the majesty of the "Father of Gods and men", a timeless Bronze sculpture, this is classic art at its finest. Zeus has his left arm outstretched and his right arm drawn back to throw an object now missing, probably a thunderbolt. Our Design Toscano weighty high quality lost wax Greek God sculpture is hand rubbed in a multi-toned finish and set atop a black solid marble base.
