c. 100 B.C.
This early Gladius sword replicates the sword used by the Roman legions from the inception of the iron blade to the early part of the first century A.D. This Roman version, based on a historical artifact excavated from the ruins of Pompeii, is not waisted and has a shorter point, but is thought to have been just as effective and easier to make than the longer point version. Our historic Roman Gladius sword reproduction features a hand-turned ash and maple hardwood grip. The high-quality full tang sword blade is hand-forged of high carbon steel, tempered for strength and meticulously polished to a superb finish. Hand-crafted by the famed metalsmiths at Windlass Steelcrafts. Complete with a leather scabbard with ornate brass appliqu and 4 belt rings. This sword will be professionally sharpened to order and cannot be returned.
