Roman Gladius Sword - The Maintz Pattern: Unsharpened
The Roman Gladius was the sword of choice for Caesar's legions. They chose the Gladius as their principal sidearm because it was practical, efficient, and excellent in close combat. The early Gladius (our version is of the Maintz pattern) was wasp-waisted with a long point that combined cutting power and stabbing ability in one handy weapon. This is the sword that conquered most of the known world. Our historic Roman Gladius sword reproduction features a hardwood ash pommel and hilt with a faux ivory finger grip. The high-quality full tang sword blade is hand-forged of high carbon steel, tempered for strength and meticulously polished to a superb finish. Hand-crafted by the famed metalsmiths at Windlass Steelcrafts. Complete with a leather scabbard featuring an ornate brass appliqu and four belt rings.
Overall: 28" Blade: 19½"Lx2"W. 3/16" thick. 2 lbs./6 oz.
