Bernini's David Bonded Marble Statue
Classic sculpture by artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1598-1680), Galleria Borghese, Rome
In one of history's most compelling stories, David stills the heart as the young shepherd who slew the giant Goliath with a single stone. Bernini's 17th Century masterpiece is full of movement and energy. The sculpture interacts with the space around it, which differs from Donatello' and Michelangelo's version. Bernini's David portrays the young shepherd in the act of throwing the stone, something extremely rare in post-Antiquity sculptures. Our Design Toscano-exclusive nearly foot-tall replica is cast in bonded marble resin for proud display in home or gallery.
