by Melissao A beautiful statement piece for the back yard
I purchased this piece as a gift after seeing the actual gargoyle statues at the Notre Dame.
The first statue I received had a large crack in the front, near the wing. I debated even sending it back as I felt that it added to the "weathered" look, but I was concerned that with time it might affect the overall stability of the statue. I called Design Toscano to ask what to do, and I was pleasantly surprised with the ease of returning / replacing the item.
The new statue is absolutely perfect. He's currently being used as a Scarecrow to protect the herbs, and I think he gives the back yard quite a personality!

by Bruce54 Design Toscano's Spitting Gargoyle is a must for the Gargoyle Aficionodo!
I purchased this magnificent Spitting Gargoyle for my wife (on Amazon) for Christmas. It now sits atop a bookcase looking down over our living room much like the original looks down over the city of Paris.
All of our holiday guests were impressed with the majestic piece of French history...we highly recommend acquiring this piece from Design Toscano...especially if you are a gargoyle aficionodo...this is a must for your collection!

Bought the spiiter at least 15 years ago from Toscano. We get remarks on the spitter from every guest. The cost was 750.00. The cost now is much more reasonable. The statue has weathered a bit but looks more like the original @ Notre Dame Catherdral in Paris. The casting is very light and can be moved easily. My brother really liked the spitter and since he donated one of his kidneys to me this summer, I am purchasing one for him for his garden. This casting is excellent.

I saw the original first-hand on the roof of Notre Dame de Paris in 1995. You had to pay to go up there, but the cathedral was being restored, and watching the workmen patching the parapets and cleaning the gargoyles was worth every franc. Things were badly weathered, and I think some of the gargoyles were actually replaced by precise copies. I really liked the spitting gargoyle and to be able to present him as a gonzo 41st wedding anniversary gift to my husband was simply golden. "Spitter" is sturdy if weathered-looking, built to last, just like the original, and commands enough presence with his size and forbidding visage that our dogs are yet to insult him even after several months. We love our "Spitter!"
