Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm very happy with my new Art Deco lamp! I wanted a “globe” style lamp because the small table where this lamp will be placed also holds a 6” crystal ball and a 6” armillary sphere and I wanted to follow through with this theme of spheres design. I had an existing globe style lamp, but it was too bright. This can be a problem with these non-shaded kinds of lamps and they can be uncomfortable to look at directly. I didn’t want to use this lamp as a reading lamp. I simply wanted to chase away the gloom from a dark corner of my living room. To that end, I am running this lamp off of a timer and with a 25 watt bulb (instead of the recommended 40 watt bulb) and it is absolutely perfect! It draws attention to itself and the other interesting items on the table with it in a very pleasant aesthetic statement. Regarding the lamp’s overall quality’ it is weighted sufficiently and is of a solid resin construction. The paint job is good, perfectly acceptable for the purpose and price (it can be repainted if one wants to go to the trouble). The clips that hold the globe in place are plenty strong enough. They are slightly visible through the globe when lit. I do not find this noticeable enough to be objectionable, however, if they had been installed rotated 90 degrees from their present location, they would not be visible at all. One might have hoped that someone would have figured this little assembly detail out at the factory. But overall, I am very happy with my Art Deco lamp. It is a big improvement over the lamp it replaced and it looks great in my living room.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Desiree Art Deco Lamp design flaw. My only complaint or inquiry, really, is this. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to afix the "neckless" globe to the very shallow ledge that it sits on? The clips are ugly and useless. I'm afraid that just a slam of the door and the delicate glass globe will fall off and shatter. I was thinking of a caulking strip or something semi-permanent since I'll have to change the bulb eventually. Other than this I really like the lamp and will even love it if anyone will give me any suggestions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice addition to the household decor! I really liked this product online and I was excited when it came. The only thing that I was a little surprised about was the streaks of red paint that highlight parts of the sculpture. They don't detract from it, but they were unexpected. Overall, I think it is a neat piece and it fits with rest of the decor of the living room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pluses and Minuses I had looked at this lamp so many times, both in the catalog and at Amazon. I loved the simplicity of the lines and gracefulness of lamp as a whole. Noting that it was not in my most recent catalog, I ordered it before it was no longer available. Soo... + When it arrived, the globe was cracked. I contacted DT and they sent me a replacement globe--thank you! - As other reviewers have noted, the painting of this lamp leaves a lot to be desired. the lady is more of a flesh tone than ivory, and, imho, does not harmonize with the gold. The gold draping is dull, and the red paint used on it to simulate marble is so very poorly done. + In reading reviews of this lamp, I have found that it is paintable--fantastic! I'm thinking that a pearl for the lady and a low sheen antique gold for the draping might be nice, so Gilder's Paste in on my shopping list. - Given the quality of purchases from DT in the past, I'm surprised that passed as acceptable in their product line. The pictures are beautiful, if only the product matched in real life. + Other than the painting on this lamp, it is heavy and seems to be well-made. I'm looking forward to getting this lady situated. Wordy, I know, especially for a product that seems to be on its way out, but I hope that this helps someone who is looking at this lamp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Design flaw Overall I like the Desiree Sculpture with the exception of the two metal spring clips that hold the globe in place......they are highly visible when the light is on. I'm thinking of painting the clips a neutral color so that won't be as noticeable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Nice Little Accent Lamp I have long wanted an Art Deco lamp, something reasonably tasteful and not too kitschy. This lamp is nicely made, doesn't feel cheap, looks great and puts out just the right amount of light. I like mine.
