The Arming and Departure of the Knights Tapestry
By Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris
These famed masters of the English decorative arts creatively capture the romance of the pursuit for the Holy Grail in this 1896 tapestry design. Though many dispute the specific nature of the mythological Grail, few question its magic as a shining symbol of adventure. A richly vibrant mille-fleur of golds, burgundies, greens and blues on a striking black background surrounds the figures. Handwoven in France on a jacquard loom, this exquisite masterwork accommodates optional rod and finials or hangs easily on metal hangers in the lining.
Shown with NG295531 rod and finials and two TD1800 tassels

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Outstanding work of art Having purchased this item, I can say that I was a little concerned if it would meet my expectations when it arrived, as it is a very expensive piece. I've always been pleased with my Design Toscano purchases, so I decided to take the chance. When I opened the package and stretched it out, let me just say that I was stunned. It met and exceeded my every imagining of how it would be. The weight in your hands is what you notice first, and then the elaborate coloration is a feast for the eyes. The very fine, 3D texturing of the weave jumps out at you. Finally you notice he silk threads skillfully interwoven among the cotton fibers, creating a subtle sheen. On close inspection, you see that the workmanship and construction is old world quality. I almost feel guilty, as if I had purchased a rare masterpiece at a fraction of its real value. If you are hesitating as I was, jump in, you will never regret your decision. It is not often that you can acquire such a fine piece of art that is of modern origin. "The Tapestry" as you will refer to it, is worthy as a true family heirloom, to be passed down through the generations. I promise It will bring renewed pleasure to the eye every time you walk past, as it does for me. Like a fine painting, I look forward to discovering new details every time I view it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magnificent I bought the 'medium' version of this tapestry about seven years ago. The colors and detail are exquisite. It is a joy to look at, a real work of art. I get many, many compliments on this tapestry. It is a focal point in my living room and will be a family heirloom. Interestingly, it was a good investment, too. It costs about $300 more now that when I bought it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This product is beautiful and is for those who love tapestries The tapestry looks exactly as it is pictured on the web site. However, you can appreciate its real value and beauty only when you get it home and place it on the wall. I ordered the large (the biggest) size and it is realy amazing. I often sit on the couch and admire it. Its vivid colors and great quality makes me wonder how in the world they were able to put it together so nice. I am glad I bought it. I had it for a few years now, and I am still not tired of looking at it. I receive compliments from my guests every time they see it. If you are an art lover like me than you should consider buying it. Thank you design Toscano.
