Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good This is an ambitious piece of artwork with lots of detail handpainted in a Chinese factory, so my expectations were not overly high. I tend to notice splotches and mispaints and there are their share here, but overall not too bad. The surprise was the frieze was bowed out in the middle (??) which I thought was maybe the design, however the frieze also arrived cracked down the middle. To their credit Toscano sent a free replacement and the next one was flat in the middle- not bowed- although the frame does not touch the wall on all sides, its a bit bent. Its almost as if the thing was hot from the oven and warped a bit. It also had some chips on the carvings. The coloring between the two paintings was radically different too- the first one much darker green than the 2nd. I suppose you can pretend its an Egyptian 'relic' with slight distress and whatnot and go from there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty ata distance Its pretty at a distance but don't look too close! You will then see how the paint is out of line and spills over. The one I was sent is very dark with an over abundance of navy blue paint. I took some light paint and did a soft rub to help lighten it. It does look nice on the wall. Be warned.... as with much of the Egyptian stuff, don;t drop it or knock it as it will break. The resin used is not very strong. Be sure to use heavy, strong screws with molly bolts when hanging this piece as it is heavy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sloppy painting mars great item This would have been a very beautiful piece except that the "hand painting" looks to have been done by children. Paint is slopped over it's edges making the item look cheap on close inspection. Up on wall behind a sofa or something might be fine as you wouldn't notice the detail so much. It's still a lovely piece, but it's a pity that sloppiness and poor workmanship made this less than it should be. I would have liked to have done the painting myself. I may see if I can remove the paint and give it a go myself. Returning it from Canada is such a hastle with no guarantee that the new one would be any better painted.
