Theseus Fighting with the Minotaur, 1850: Bonded Marble Resin Statue
by artist Antoine Louis Barye (1776-1875)
Celebrate ultimate victory with the hero Theseus who was victorious over the half man, half bull Minotaur of ancient mythology. Our sculpture, sure to hold a proud place in any collection, is cast in bonded marble resin to showcase each bulging muscle and sinewy curve. French artist Barye is best known for his figurines of wild animals, all amazingly authentic and based on actual life studies.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Theseus and the Minataur go clubbing I knew this wasn't going to be as nice as my other DT pieces; you can tell from the photos that it's a little clumsy. I love the original though, and it was on sale, so I figured I'd take a chance. What I was not expecting was for it look like it's covered in glitter! I suppose it kind of adds to the erotic charge of the piece, and anyway my friends think it's hilarious. April 30, 2016
