Callipygian Venus Grand Garden Statue
After Hellenistic original Venus Kallipygos Sculpture, National Archaeologial Museum, Naples
Venus, thought to be more beautiful than any mortal woman, demurely admires her reflection in this sculpture called "Callipygian," meaning "of the beautiful buttocks." Although the late Hellenistic original once stood at the center of a pool in Nero's Domus Aurea in Rome, it was considered "dangerously erotic" and was included amongst other such artworks in a secret cabinet when relocated to Naples in 1802. Our Grand Garden Venus is cast in quality designer resin as a classic statement piece for home or garden.

love the statue but you don't have a medium height base of about 24-28" that is round. A round base statue on a square base looks amateurish and not the classical look I seek November 10, 2013
I studied this statue in art class and it was one of my favorites. I bought it and now it is displayed on our deck. Great statue. February 25, 2011
