Direct Casting of The Virgin and Child with the Infant St. John Wall Sculpture

by Michelangelo Buonarotti (1475-1564) in the Academy of Royal Arts, London
Sculpted out of marble by the Renaissance master Michelangelo (1504-1506), this wall statue of the Madonna, the Child, and an infant John the Baptist has a somber mood and appeal. Also known as Taddei Tondo, it was never completed. Cast in quality designer resin and finished to resemble faux stone, this 16th-century direct casting stretches nearly four feet in diameter to become an instant focal point on home, church or gallery wall. This large-scale, display-quality wall sculpture transforms any entertainment area, recreation area or church rectory into something truly magnificent!

Direct Casting of The Virgin and Child with the Infant St. John Wall Sculpture 5 5 1 1
This replica is an inspiration to all who view it! When Michelangelo's Taddei Tondo Madonna and Child arrived, we intended to place it in our garden. But it was so large - and breathtakingly beautiful - that we decided to donate it to the Shrine of St. Bernadette in Albuquerque NM where it adorns one of the vestibule walls. The image of Mother and Child has multi-colored votive candles flickering beneath it - which thousands of pilgrims light continunously. This work of art is truly a symbol of faith, and radiates inspiration to all who visit it. The sculpture definitely deserved a home at The Shrine. What a tender reminder of how important sacred art is to us who are blessed with the grace of belief! March 3, 2012
