Angel of Grief Monument Statue
After the 1894 original by William Wetmore Story, in the Protestant Cemetery, Rome
From her delicate wings and arms to the tendrils at the nape of her neck, the detail of this exclusive, designer resin Victorian angel is amazing. Inspired by the monument that American poet and sculptor William Wetmore Story designed as an homage to his wife Emelyn, our desktop version features a raised lettered message reminding you to celebrate life.
The inscription reads: “The bud was spread to show the rose our Saviour smiled the bud was closed. Anon”
Desktop: 3½"Wx7½"Dx7½"H. 2 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mourning Angel This is a wonderful tool to help someone who has lost a loved one. The grief is so great in this statue that it symbolizes loss that another person has felt and makes one feel less alone. I have purchased several of these and have given them as gifts to those who need a "place" to put their pain until they are ready to again feel it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is beautiful This is so beautiful! The detail is great. Unfortunately, the writing is so small, it cannot be read. Other than that, I am very satisfied.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a perfect tribute. Our granddaughter always loved the Angel of Grief statue that she saw in the catalog. She even drew it. I should have bought it for her years ago. She died in September, and her drawings and pictures were displayed at the funeral, including the picture of the Angel of Grief. I had to buy it for my daughter for a keepsake. It hurts to look at it, but we had to have it. It's lovely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely Statue I ordered this for my sister, since she had always admired the life-sized tombstone of this sculpture in a cemetery in St. Louis. The sculpture is lovely, and the desk-top one did not disappoint. My only issue is that it looked as if the arm draped across the top had been repaired. It wasn't obvious enough for me to return it, but it still looked as if it had been broken at one time. My sister loved the statue and that is what matters! I have ordered from this website since then and probably will in the future. They have a tremendous selection of unusual products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am happy that this is a replica of William Story's Angel of Grief. There are so many different copies of the original tombstone sculpted by William Story for his wife. Only wish it had the inscriptions on it that you would see at the Protestant cemetery in Rome, Italy. I have collected miniature angels for nearly 50 years. I am thrilled to have this angel and she elicits various personal emotions each time I look at her.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why I purchased Angel of Grief I have a poster "Angel of Grief" and when I saw Toscano's Angel of Grief, it matched the poster perfectly. It's a beautiful statue. I just feel it's a bit over-priced.
