Charles II Side Chair
Handcarved solid mahogany antique replica.
Since the 1700's, European castles have filled their massive halls with elaborately carved chairs like our exclusive replicas. Picture today's highly skilled craftsmen, like those 300 years ago, carving a single, solid mahogany chair by hand - you'll soon realize why it is wrought with ornate beauty! A hand-rubbed finish and a multi-colored coat of arms jacquard tapestry, upholstered on front and back, give it all the authenticity of a fine period antique.
Set AF99119 includes two armchairs and four side chairs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks better in person than catalog or online We were pleasantly surprised at the appearance of these chairs. Unlike some other vendors, these came fully assembled and packaged amazingly secure and protected. Some people may not find them particular comfortable, because the structure encourages straight posture when sitting. We were comfortable enough - and really, how long do you sit at a meal?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Authentic look Bought this chair for my 6' 5" husband to sit in to put on his shoes...great for that because it has a still seat and straight back. Not a comfy chair but perfect for our sitting room and his dressing needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from looks better than pictured I just received the Charles II arm chair. It is beautiful. It has a straight back so it is not perfect comfort, but it does what it is suppose to do. It is a grand hall chair that is stunning in appearance. It s a good chair for conversation as you can rest on your arms while posing slightly forward. The look is remarkable with fine craftsmanship. I would recommend for the right syle setting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from chair is very uncomfortable I bought just one chair to see how it was. I intended to buy 7 more but now I won't. The back is too straight and upright. It is extremely uncomfortable. You would have to lean forward with elbows on the table to be comfortable. You cant lean back at all. I think its a huge design defect since a slightly different angle would have made all the difference. It would be torture to sit in it for any length of time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very attractive chairs, very poor seat cushions We bought 2 of the Charles II Side Chairs with arms to be desk chairs with our Lord Raffles Lion Desk. The chairs are very attractive and look very nice with our table. However, after having the chairs less than 3 months, the seat cushion of one of the chairs lost all support. The other began to lose support within 5 months. My wife and I are not large people, and we sit in the chairs relatively infrequently (less than 1 hour per day). In exploration, the straps to support the cushions had pulled out from the edges and were irreparable. I have created a false bottom by cutting a piece of plywood to attach under each cushion. They are now quite firm, but we do not feel like we will fall through the cushion. Although the chairs are very attractive, I would not buy them again.
