The Bronze Age Nude Male Statue (1877) by artist Auguste Rodin (1840-1917)
Expected Better Quality
The statue was ok, but I expected better quality. The statue is a molded statue and it should have been better cleaned of defects and more attention to detail.

The overall appearance is cute rather than majestic doe to the fact that it is simply plastic...or some quality resin product rather than any form of marble.

Space age replication!
Although I tend to shudder as we see "bonded marble," or whatever that traditional sculptural replication material is/was to be called, fading from these and similar items into the "classic designer resin" format, the bottom line is that these replicae are just that! Given this concession this and other such renderings is of overall greater clarity and detail except for all but the most costly reproductions of great art. After all they are all copies that we bring into our lives to signify our good taste and appreciation of a distantly accessible original. Certainly this quality piece is well cast and durable. As with all Design Toscano it arrived totally unharmed in careful packaging, while answering all the graphic and narrative description in catalogue and website. Who could ask for more?!

Excellent reproduction, obviously cast from an original. The white patina actually looks better than my large bronze Age of Bronze.

This statue is beautiful!
This statue is the perfect size and weight, and the detail is amazing. There are, however, a few very tiny imperfections in the resin, but they are too small to take away from the overall beauty of this piece.
Packaging is excellent, so no worries about damage during shipping.
I uploaded a photo from behind, since there is no alternate view with the description. Click on the thumbnail to see the entire picture.

In terms of form this is a wonderful piece...
...HOWEVER, it falls short technically, since it is painted cast resin, and the paint is "bubbled" in many of the recessed parts of the sculpture--which means flaking. This was a disappointment.
But when you see how beautifully (in form at least) one of Rodin's masterpieces was replicated, it almost makes up for the shoddy production values. Perhaps this explains the relatively low price.
I have flaked off all the "bubbled" sections of paint on the statue, and am considering retouching it with white acrylic paint, or I may possibly paint it to feign the appearance of the original bronze.
As always, wonderfully packaged for shipping by DT.
If you're not averse to doctoring a statue up, or you're looking for a faux bronze painting project....go for it! It's still a beautiful statue.

This looks as nice as the photos. It appears like white marble, but it is plastic. Very easy to clean, just rinse it off in the shower. Looks great in my bathroom. I you like male nude statues, this is one of the nicest. Too bad it does not come in life size like the statue of David. If you have ever seen the original bronze one, the detail on this is much nicer and more realistic.

This product has great features.
It was a good example of the ideal male body. It was exactly as described in the catalog.
