Teucer Quality Lost Wax Bronze Statue: 1881

The champion Greek archer "Teucer" is one of the heroes of Homer's story of the Trojan War. Sculpted with elongated classical style that foreshadowed Art Deco, this nude bronze statue found great acclaim at the Royal Academy (1881). Sculpted by Sir Hamo Thornycroft (1850-1925), the nude male, readying his famous bow to focus legendary power, striking a notable pose that critics called "courageously realistic." This Design Toscano exclusive high quality lost wax bronze "Teucer, the Archer" sculpture is hand rubbed in a multidimensional sepia patina finish and set atop a solid black marble base. The nude male bronze sculpture is individually cast in the traditional lost wax method, which highlights the sculptural uniqueness and guarantees heirloom quality.
