Hellenistic Greek Wrestlers Bonded Marble Statue

1st Century BC, Uffizi Gallery, Florence
The athleticism of wrestling allowed this ancient artist to depict the human form in movement from every possible angle. One of the most dramatic and realistic pieces in Hellenistic art, the intensely straining muscles and taut limbs seen in this classic work draw the eye into an experience of form and style. This virtually identical Roman copy of the Greek original is cast in bonded natural marble and hand-finished to be truly gallery-worthy.

Realistic Expectations I would recommend buying this product, through this retailer, but buyer needs to have realistic expectations of what they are buying. The retailer gives an accurate descriptions of the object, but the amount you are paying should be an indicator of the quality overall. The figures are well formed and look much like the real thing. It is in the little details of the feet and hands that detract from the overall beauty. Overall I love the piece. The size is perfect for an office or home. September 5, 2014
Alert! This product is a huge disappointment. It looks like cheap plastic. It resembles similar products with the prefix PD. Avoid these! However, if the "bonded natural marble" statues, such as Apollo & Daphne, are marked "WU," the the quality is consistently excellent. Hope this helps! RWP August 21, 2014
