As the commander-in-chief of the Roman army, Augustus carries a consular baton while proclaiming triumph to his troops. Sculpted in solid natural marble to portray Augustus as a worthy leader, the unknown artist depicted him barefoot (for honesty) and with Cupid by his side (for pureness of heart). Our scaled replica is sculpted in painstaking detail from the museum original.
