Rated 2 out of 5 by Gargoylelover9 A bit disappointed
I had been wanting a gargoyle for years. In the catalogue, Emmett looked like a solid, high-quality gargoyle. When I got the package, I found it to be much lighter than I had expected, and he turned out to be made of a less solid material than I'd hoped for. The fault is mine, as I didn't explore the product description as closely as I should have. Just wanted to advise others to do so in order to avoid disappointment.

Rated 1 out of 5 by May67 Paint peeling after one month in moderate temps
I love this statue design. He is adorable. But unfortunately I have to voice the complaint of multiple other reviewers. The paint is peeling off after 1 month in 70-80 F temps, leaving white resin underneath. I will try scraping and repainting, but for $60 ???!!! Toscano should at least offer a substantial discount for the ones they have left in stock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Sarabi Sweet Emmett
Our favorite in our collection of Gargoyles, he's sweet not grotesque and quite zen. And he looks very dapper when we dress him up for Christmas with a dog beard and hat. He currently guards our outdoor coffee table.

We gifted Emmett to a friend and co-worker - he definitely adds a unique touch to our office all dressed up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Dan18 It's great if not used outdoors.
We've had ours outside for two years. Within one year it started to lose the color. After another year it has cracked all over the top and a wing has fallen off. It needs a better sealant to prevent water intrusion and cracking. If you do purchase one, I would recommend putting an exterior grade polyurethane or some other exterior sealant on it. It's a great looking piece and definitely a conversation piece but it should have lasted more than two years. Our first one that was ordered came in damaged, so it is rather fragile.

Emmett is the guardian of my rose garden. He looks very cute sitting out there among them. He is holding up very well to the weather.

by pfitz524 Terrible quality
I was really excited to order this piece. Loved the design and a great addition for our small patio.
However after ONE full round of seasons - let's count what's wrong. One of Emmet's fingers fell off. The finish on front and back is peeling off. AND one of his ears is cracked.
Awful quality. Maybe there's been improvements but I am horribly disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by LittleBird57 This product leaves something to be desired...
While the size and design are nice, the quality of the materials and workmanship left a lot to be desired. The paint pulled off of the thin plaster when I took it out of the plastic bag. The paint continued to fall off as I tried to rub the packing material off of the piece. There was also some kind of chrystaline substance "growing" on the piece. Since I didn't want to go through all the hassle of returning the piece and getting more of the same, I had my artist friend scrape off all the loose paint and he repainted and refinished it. It actually looks better than the way it did when it arrived. I have many other gargoyles made of heavy resin and they are very durable, but this piece seems to be made of cheap thin hollow plaster. Since this comes from China, I doubt talking with the manufacturer would be possible.
