Hyde Park Authentic Garden Armillary Sphere
Originally a Victorian antique, ours is a foundry iron casting
Dating back to the 4th century A.D. and mentioned in the works of scientists, philosophers, and poets, historic armillary spheres show time as the shadow of the gnomon falls across the equatorial ring. Our Design Toscano-exclusive heirloom casting is Victorian garden art at its finest and adds architectural interest in quality foundry iron, a material that outperforms common aluminum. Rising on a sculptural base, this investment in garden art stands more than a yard tall. Simple assembly required.

24½"Wx14½"Dx40"H. 44 lbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy, happy, happy! Armillary met my expectations. I just wish that there was a description of it's function and operation enclosed. October 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Eye-catching I love this item in my garden--but so do the birds who make a real mess! June 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far, so good Read reviews by others saying that this product rusts. Like another reviewer, I don't really care since I want it to look old. I found the quality to be surprisingly nice, though I wish they made this product in a larger size. Overall I would recommend it for those who like a classic look in their garden. August 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great addition to my garden. This is a wonderful addition to my semi formal garden. The design is authentic and the fact that the iron is already gaining a patina adds to the presentation. All in all a super item from Toscano. August 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by We really like it. Our Hyde Park Sphere was an instant hit with both of us and many friends and neighbours. Several neighbours borrowed our Catalogue and ordered garden ornaments of their own. It was quite expensive to ship because of its weight, but is already a centre piece of our front garden. Rated 5 out of 5 by The best armillary I've seen for the price! My review stands in diametric opposition to the others I've read on this site; however, my expectations were different. I would not have purchased this item if it DIDN'T rust. I have created a garden in the manner of an old English estate rose garden, and I would not feature new ornamentations or a newly painted armillary, because such things would not suit the natural, age-old feel of my property. Although formal, my house is limestone, and outdoor fixtures are antique. This armillary is the focal point of the Lily Garden, and it has weathered (yes, RUSTED) into a beautiful, authentic looking treasure that we can actually use to tell time! If it's an armillary sphere you're after, look around, and you'll see how the one offered here at this price is patently unbeatable! July 21, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Scotchguard Required A rare miss for this catalog, the rust began within days. It also struck me as unusual that a product advertised as at least roughly replicating a 4th century artifact would not include a brief pamplet summarizing the history and offering a few setup instructions (a few trial and error attempts did not suggest this would spring full blown to my intuition). Ultimately, though, what use is a sun-driven timepiece that can't be left in the sun? June 24, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by this product rusts immediately and parts fall off easily I have purchased many items from Design Tuscano. This is the first Time I have been disappointed. Apon assembly the feather and pointer of the arrow kept falling off. They would have been better served if they were made to skrew on. The whole thing began rusting within 2 days out in the garden. a protective coating would have been helpful. September 10, 2012
