Guan Yin, Chinese Goddess of Compassion and Mercy Sculpture

The goddess compassionately looks down to Earth from atop her crescent moon throne in this exquisite sculpt by an unknown Chinese artist. The most worshipped figure in China, Guan Yin is sculpted with prayer beads around her neck and robes flowing delicately from her shoulders. The dramatic, more than two-foot-tall imported work of gallery art is cast in quality designer resin and finished in faux terra cotta.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't meet expectations Product did not come up to the expected Toscano standards. Fortunately this is the only item from Toscano I have had this experience with. The basic design is good. The milling process leaves the sculpture very wobbly and unstable after assembly. The coloring of the resin makes the item look very "plastic" and inexpensive unlike most Toscano pieces.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quan Yin A great piece overall. It has more of sandalwood looking finish rather than a “terra cotta” finish which it was said to have. Much better in the sandalwood look I think. It’s a large figure and graceful, even lyrical, and very nicely detailed. It adds a serene touch to any room it’s in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning but needs room! We have several Guan Yin/Kwan Yin statues and paintings, but this is by far the most dramatic and stunning. Definitely deserves a showcase siting for display. Do pay attention to the dimensions, especially height. Due to the beautifully curved crescent moon upon which the Guan Yin sits, this is VERY tall so it really needs about 26" in display height to show at its best. Although 'wood finished' it is a touch plastic-y in appearance close up. But the gracefulness of the pose and the elegant overall design more than compensate for the slight negative of its surface finish. The color is a warm golden tan and very pleasing with almost any decor colors. The base is nicely weighted so no fears it will fall over. Construction could be a little "tighter" but this is not something that people are going to handle so I think it will be fine. We have ordered a dramatic silk orchid plant to sit beside this; they should be beautiful together!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Beautiful !! I was a bit skeptical when ordering, wondering what the quality would actually be like .It is a quality piece, I would say. And it was reasonably priced. The immense care and attention to detail makes this a great value. If you're looking for a elegant piece this would be perfect !!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow, just beautiful I am an interior designer. My client wanted an asian sculpture right outside her door in a covered space. I put this in a terra cotta 36 in bird bath /planter. Filled it with blue/green glass.and a ropelight/solar. totally stunning. Gave it a clear coat of polyurethene for the weather.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Goddess of Mercy, Mother Light.... A pretty fine piece. It could look more like wood however, but it does look fine enough. It is an impressive piece and always draws attention to itself. Very serene!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Guan Yin, Chinese Goddess of Compassion and Mercy Sculpture It is not always easy to determine from a catalog or on line that a product will be exactly what it appears to look like. In my home and at work I have many pieces of asian statues, pictures, etc. that I have collected along the way either through my journies throughout Asia or through purchases here at home. When the statue of Guan Yin arrived I was most pleased with the beauty and feeling of compassion and peace that it evokes. As it sits in my home it stands out as a focal point and everyone who comes to my home enquires about the statue, the meaning of it, the beauty of it and its craftsmanship. I have to admit that I have bought some other pieces from Toscano before but they have always been gifts. I am happy to have purchased Guan Yin for myself.
