Grand Megalithic Olmec Head Statue
Nice statue, but . .
The Grand Scale Olmec head arrived a couple hours ago and is already installed in one of the cactus beds in front of my home. This statue joins a similarly sized Easter Island head. They are both attention-grabbers and really add to the appearance of the front of my home. While I do like the Olmec head, Toscano would have an excellent statue, rather than a fair statue, if they did away with the weathering attempts. It is not natural looking and is poorly executed. They would have been much better off doing no weathering, or very little, as you did on the Colossal example of the Olmec head. I have seen hundreds of images of Olmec heads as well as a few examples of actual heads in the Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City. None showed anything remotely resembling this 'vandalizing.'. I was able to tone things down a bit with a light over-spray of dark brown paint. This was not a total cure but the statue's appearance was improved considerably. I would strongly suggest in the next production batch of these statues that Toscano eliminate the weathering process as well as the really terrible looking unnatural globs of (?) lichen. The statue would then receive 5 stars in all categories and I might actually purchase a replacement for the current statue.
