Phryne Before the Judges Statue
Beautiful statue with interesting history
This sculpture, Phyrene Before the Judges is quite interesting in its history, though there is no real record of this event happening as depicted. Rather, this is based on a painting based on hearsay, based on a myth, mostly.
However, it is quite lovely and sculpted nicely and is a good size. It is a handsome sculpture with a place in the garden or, in my case, the sculpture garden.
The only flaw with this sculpture and almost all Toscano resin castings, is the color. They all tend to be a sort of grayish, pale color. This doesn't go with anything else (except itself). Fortunately, there is an easy solution: spray painting. Unless this is going to be subject to constant water or rainfall, most commercial spray paints stick to it quite well. I prefer the textured finishes, like "stone" texture or at least "sand."
I painted mine in three colors: a pale ivory for the skin, a darker tan for the garment, and a reddish brown for the tree stump she is leaning against and her hair. This, of course, requires lots of taping off and painting in sections and then some touchup later, but it is much better than the standard "ghostly gray."
Otherwise, a perfect statue.

Very beautiful statue
Phryne Before the Judges is the Statue even more beautiful than what I imagined before receiving it at home.
The used material is magnificent, it really looks like some marble. Details are remarkable and the finish is exemplary. A real work of artist. I could not be happier. I am completely satisfied by this purchase.
