Rated 4 out of 5 by AnneT Nice yet lightweight gargoyle
Overall I am happy with this purchase. The gargoyle has nice detail and it appears as it does in the photo. However, it is much lighter than I expected, which makes it seem more delicate than I envisioned. This is surprising as I would imagine many would want to keep it outside. I haven't performed any maintenance on it yet and it is still new so I can't say how durable it will be outside for an extended period. It is recommended to take it indoors for extreme weather.

I just love the selection and price of the items you carry. I would recommend this to my friends. I bought several gargoyles and incorporated them into an art installation in my garden.

This gargoyle is a wonderful addition to my collection. The materials and workmanship are equal to the design and character of the piece. It was packaged very carefully and I had no problems whatsoever with the order. This one is on my mantel and we call him "Sylvester" because his profile reminds us of a character in an old movie we love. Just beautiful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Calisi Florentine, my Gargoyle of eight years, has braved the Chicago winters with me.
I cannot believe the durability and continuous "good looks" of this gorgeous creature. I've loved Gargoyles since I was a little girl and on my 60th birthday a friend and myself were browsing in Toscano Design and saw Florentine. My friend bought him for me and we've been inseparable ever since. He has protected my home for 6 years and now that I'm in an apartment and have a balcony, he is out there watching over as he is supposed to.
I don't have the capabilities of sending you a photo, you'll have to take my word for my description. Thanks

Our Gargoyle is outside fearlessly protecting my yard from stray birds that may want to drop their business in my pool.
This is my 4th Gargoyle purchase from Toscano

Rated 5 out of 5 by Alli67 LOVE my gargoyle!
He arrived in time for Halloween, but he is so very COOL, he has become a permanent fixture on my front porch. My only issue is that he was smaller than I expected, given that he is described as "Large." However, that said, I am sure that Toscano had dimensions indicated, and I just glossed right over that detail. Regardless, he is a gargoyle with an attitude, and he looks amazing. Love him. Might get another to keep him company during his nightly vigils...

Love the whimsical quality of this gargoyle. Wish it were heavier though. I had to glue it to a heavy base so it would stand up in the wind.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JannaMcC Small version cute but not really same as bigger one
I bought the "small" version. He's cute and fun but not what I thought I was getting. On the positive side, on sale it was a great deal and I am certainly glad to have him. He has a lot of happy personality and the spread wings look grand. There is excellent depth in the modeling, so the features stand out well with no need of extensive shading in the paint. He looks like a happy pup pleased to be on guard with my other gargoyles.
However, I thought it would have the same level of detail as the "large," but the small version is quite different. The tiny picture gives no real hint as to what it looks like. It certainly resembles the big picture, but it is not what I expected. What's different? Well, the surface texture is very smooth and, as mentioned, lacking in detail. The "fingers," for example, are plain; where are the claws? The muscles are suggested, not defined. The wings in the back are smooth, without veining. (Actually, it's not made to be seen from the back, really. There is not even a tail.) The "Plinth" looks like a featureless lump. It really doesn't live up to the picture of the large version. Toscano should take a good photo of it and offer it as a different piece altogether. Or, perhaps the larger is a parent and the smaller is a less developed child.
Also, there are small flaws in the casting that should have been sanded out. Normally, I'd just do it, but as the paint is all one color, I doubt I could match it well enough.
So, to sum up: Worth the sale price but the lack of a good picture leads the buyer into thinking it is more detailed than it actually is. I wish I could have afforded the bigger version!
Cheers, Janna Mc
