Callipygian Venus Sculpture - Marble Version
Callipygian Venus Sculpture
Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Naples
Venus, thought to be more beautiful than any mortal woman, demurely admires her reflection in this sculpture called “Callipygian,” meaning “of the beautiful buttocks.” While the late Hellenistic original once stood at the center of a pool in Nero’s Domus Aurea in Rome, this marble version is a scaled rendition cast in white bonded Carrara marble set on a solid marble base by the artisans of Italy’s famed Santini Workshop.

Marble Version: 5½"Wx4½"Dx17"H. 8 lbs.
