By Thierry Poncelet (b. 1952), in a Private Collection A stunning, framed replica on artists' grade canvas
No one can accuse Belgian artist Thierry Poncelet of having no sense of humor! Poncelet amusingly replaces the human heads in stuffy antique portraits with those of dogs, and the originals sell at auction for up to $7,000 each. Our authentic stretched canvas replica captures the original painting’s texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. Our loyal friend is surrounded by an imported, burnished gold-toned hardwood frame.

Thierry Poncelot
Born in Brussels, in 1946, Thierry Poncelet spent his childhood in Manche en Famenne, a small town in Belgium. At a young age, his grandmother, who was a well-known portrait painter, encouraged him to paint and draw. Thierry Poncelet is an entirely self-taught oil painter, although he studied drawing at St. Luc School. After his education, he spent a few years working for a picture restorer at the studio of a well-known painter, Max Massot. During this time, he learnt the technique of painting restoration. However, his love for painting soon outgrew his interest in restoration, and he decided to become a full-time oil painter, specialising particularly in whimsical dog portraits.
