Le Gladiator Borghese
Handsome, elegant and hopeful
If you appreciate male physiques in all their naked glory--no fig leaves--this is one of the better affordable resin-based statues I've found. His overall appearance seems to be very slightly and tastefully "modernized" in aesthetics from photos I've seen of the original sculpture, and it's remarkable to get such a well-detailed, matte-finish, marble-looking statue at such a reasonable price. Here's another selling point about this Gladiator: so many classical and modern male nude sculptures feature the face looking downward in a somewhat contemplative or somber mode. Not sure why that is historically and artistically, but it can all get a little dour and depressing. This one is quite different in feeling since the gladiator figure is looking upward. I was concerned that his upward fist gesture might feel too aggressive and violent, but to me it actually feels more like a gesture of determination and hope, or at least that's how I'm reading it. If you're into this kind of sculpture, I highly recommend this one!

I've had this beautiful sculpture for almost 5 years now and how well it has preserved itself. It has moved from hot weather to sub-zero weather, always indoors. I am very pleased with the details, workmanship, the quality of the statue and it is a beautiful addition to my apartment.

If you do not have this one in your collection, buy it. It is quite larger than expected, perfect design and detail work. At this price, cannot beat it!
