Caesar Augustus of Prima Porta Bonded Marble Statue
1st Century, Braccio Nuovo, Vatican Museum, Rome
As the commander-in-chief of the Roman army, Caesar Augustus carries a consular baton while proclaiming triumph to his troops. Sculpted in bonded natural marble to portray Augustus as a worthy leader, the unknown artist depicted him barefoot (for honesty) and with Cupid by his side (for pureness of heart). Our scaled replica is sculpted in painstaking detail from the museum original, which was discovered on April 20, 1863 in the villa of Liva at Prima Porta, near Rome.
5½"x5"D x 11½"H 2 lbs.
Caesar Augustus of Prima Porta Bonded Marble Statue is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice looking piece This statue looks great. I have only 2 complaints: 1. The reliefs on the cuirass could have been more detailed. 2. I really wish the index finger wasn't bent! Otherwise, this is a wonderful, and pretty accurate, piece.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Nice Piece of Art This was a Xmas gift for my son, who is a great fan of Classical Antiquity, and has seen the original on several occasions. It is well-made, very attractive, and reasonably priced. He liked it a great deal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT BUY for a 2000th ANNIVERSARY Another great purchasing experience from Design Toscano! As usual, the statue looks better in person than in photographs; particularly with this one, I thought the face was inaccurate in the photographs but in person the statue is very accurate to the original. Having said that, I do like the way photographs are taken and displayed on this website. Design Toscano is quite unique in selling such meaningful high-quality replicas of art like this. It is appropriate to purchase this iconic statue of Emperor Caesar Augustus on the 2000th anniversary of his death. This individual is a keystone of constitutional order; Rule of Law; public works, civil infrastructure, & civic service; tolerance but defense of state identity; generosity but individual responsibility; publicly accessible art & literature; timeless naturally sustainable social values & reason in nature; and, all wrapped into one, Augustus is simply a keystone of Western Civilization. Too many children in grade school across North America over the past 40+ years have been conspiratorially & deliberately uneducated about our ancient culture, Classical Antiquity. Regular quality history & civics education needs to be reconstituted into our grade school curricula… One cannot expect a well-informed citizenry if they generally know nothing of the origins & development of representative government and democracy while being ignorant of civics (how their nation is operated & its founding principles). …A proper history/civics curriculum will also yield more sales for Design Toscano! ;)
