by AncientFan1 The Centerpiece of the Chariot Room at the Vatican Museum
This marble-bond statue was inspired by the centerpiece at the Chariot Room in the Vatican Museums. The original dates from Roman times (1st Century AD), but was reconstructed in 1788. The original shows the horses standing in two legs, but they need bases for support. The Design Toscano replica has one horse standing in two legs, while the second horse is standing on three legs. I will venture that this posture is an improvement over the original, giving the group a realistic feeling of movement. The chariot itself was changed too, the original has bigger wheels and side handles. It’s possible that these changes were applied to highlight the horses over the chariot-charioteer pair. The original does not have a charioteer, but the replica does. The Charioteer posture, cape floating in the wind, is breathtaking. In general the replica is very well done, full of details that somehow are lost in a picture. For the price, it’s an excellent choice for a true lover of Roman antiquities.

The beauty is in the details and this sculpture encompasses the spectrum. I can not begin to state the level of craftsmanship, I would be understating. It is a beautifully executed work of art.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pattyannray The product is fabulous
I have many of these statues with the white bonded marble and dearly love each and every one of them. They are such master pieces replicated with such attention to detail. I am always pleased with what I receive. I feel the prices are fair considering how beautiful they are. They are always packaged so carefully and I never have a problem having to send them back for breakage.

It was packaged with great care and arrived in perfect condition. Myself and my daughter for whom i bought it were blown away with the intricate detail andcraftsmanship of the whole thing but yet its so delicate looking it looks as if it could crumble with the lightest of a breeze. Going to make a display box of walnut wood and glass to display this beauty so it does not get dirty none of us want to be the one to dust it. Will buy many more of the marble resin statues. Got started collecting them fifty five years ago when my father a chief in the US Navy brought home a beautiful marble statue for each of us three kids. Mine was the only one to survive all those years and i gave it to my daughter on her twenty second birthday that has started a collection that will only grow much bigger now that i have seen the quality and craftsmanship of your marble resin . I already have a very large wish list of them picked out and find it very hard not to just buy them all at once. Thank you so much for getting it delivered by her birthday even though i ordered at the last minute it got here with days to spare and i had to keep moving it to keep her from finding it before her party. She has always found her presents long before the day to open them no matter the holiday so. Its like a competition between her and i every year from October till the New Year so far its one for me this year. Thank you so very much it is so beautiful and will be treasured please dont stop making them.
