The Dying Slave Statue
By Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564), Louvre Museum, Paris.

One of the sculptor Michelangelo's greatest creations, this classic statue expresses the soul's struggle for freedom. Magnificently sculpted for the tomb of Pope Julius II in 1513. The project was never completed. In 1546, Michelangelo gave this statue along with its companion statue, the Rebellious Slave, to Ruberto Strozzi, who in turn presented them to King Francois I of France. In 1794, the Rebellious and Dying Slaves were purchased for the French state, and have been preserved in the Musée du Louvre ever since. Our nearly four-foot-tall replica is cast directly from the 19th century museum reduction in quality designer resin. A distinctive addition to your home or garden gallery, our exclusive work echoes the fine sculptures seen on European estates.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quality reproduction Very good copy, indeed. I am familiar with the original and one difference except the size is the lack of wrapping on his proper left wrist which are marked, but not sculpted. This is not a mistake though, it was intentionally finished in this manner. Very glad I ordered this piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase for Great price The dying Slave is a statue even more beautiful than what I imagined before receiving it at home. The used material is magnificent, it really looks like some marble. Details are remarkable and the finish is exemplary. A real work of artist. I could not be happier. I am completely satisfied by this purchase. The object is done very well. The size, the weight, the description and the photos are exact. The object is carefully packed. The statue is really beautiful.
