Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Decent Michelangelo Bust I'm more than excited to write a review on this absolutely rare and unique item I just bought from Design Toscano. The copy is indeed of a pretty good quality. The cons come easy only if you compare it with the original photo. First of all, this bust has been made NOT by Gaimbologna, as the website claims, but by Daniele da Volterra (1509-1566), Michelangelo's friend and disciple, who completed it in 1564-1566,k using Michelangelo's death mask. The original is 35 cms tall in comparison with 45cms height of the replica. What bothers me most is that in the replica M's nose has been shifted a couple millimeters to the left side, which is a serious distortion to the image. Also, the copyists made M's face much slimmer in comparison to the original. Otherwise, this is a great product that bears at least an 85% resemblance to the original work.
