The Cathedral Statue
(1908) By Auguste Rodin (1840-1917). Gallery quality foundry casting in a museum finish.
According to Rodin, two hands symbolize a lovers’ union every bit as powerfully as his more explicit subjects. Their eroticism conveys that which one cannot see but can imagine in this amazingly sensual moment frozen in time. Rodin’s allegory hinted at the sanctity of the physical union in the piece’s name, “The Cathedral.” This breathtaking gallery quality foundry iron casting is mounted on a solid black marble base.
